X Launches Cashtags Feature With Real-Time Stock and Crypto Data

Highlights:
- X launched interactive Cashtags, showing live stock and crypto prices directly inside users’ feeds.
- The feature also adds charts, asset posts, and limited trading access for Canadian users.
- This launch supports X’s broader plan to become a bigger finance and payments platform.
Elon Musk’s X has officially rolled out interactive Cashtags, a new feature that brings live stock and cryptocurrency price data directly into users’ feeds. The update went live on Wednesday, starting with iPhone users in the United States and Canada. When someone types a dollar sign followed by a ticker symbol like $BTC or $TSLA, X now displays current prices, interactive charts, and a dedicated feed of posts about that specific asset.
𝕏 has always been the best source of financial news for traders and investors. Billions of dollars are allocated every day based on what people read on Timeline.

X Connects Market Talk With Live Data
Nikita Bier, X’s Head of Product, announced the launch on the platform itself. He mentioned that X has long been a key source of financial news for traders and investors around the world. Bier said that a lot of money is affected every day by what people see on the timeline. Now, X wants to bring those discussions closer to live market data so users can check information more easily while following the conversation.
The new Cashtags offer more than just simple links. They display live market data, price charts with various timeframes ranging from one day to one year, and aggregate relevant posts all in one place. Users no longer need to switch apps or visit external websites to check an asset’s current performance.
Trading Integration and Future Rollout
Right now, the data and chart features are already live. However, trading is still limited. X has launched a pilot program with Wealthsimple, which is Canada’s largest online brokerage. Through this setup, Canadian users will see a “Trade” button on Cashtag pages. That button takes them to Wealthsimple, where they can place stock or crypto orders.
Hello Smart Cashtags.
Starting today, any ticker tapped on @X routes Canadian investors straight to Wealthsimple to trade. One tap from conversation to order entry. That's it. pic.twitter.com/zxwRh8zJaP

X is not working as a broker here. Instead, it only directs users to a trusted partner for the actual trade. Bier also said that web and Android support will arrive soon. For now, the feature is only available on iOS. This early release gives X time to collect feedback and improve the product before expanding it further.
The feature supports major stocks, popular cryptocurrencies, and even memecoins through contract addresses on networks such as Solana and Base. Because of this, both traditional investors and crypto users can use the tool easily.
“This ensures that you’re always matched to the chatter for the right stock or token,” he said. “Cashtags are just the first step in our commitment to be the best destination for the finance and crypto community.”
Cashtags Fit X’s Bigger Super App Plan
The launch came just one day after Bier said on X that crypto had faced a difficult year. He added, “Maybe we should launch something to fix it.”

This new Cashtags feature also fits into Elon Musk’s bigger plan for X. He wants to turn the platform into a super app. Last month, Musk said X plans to open early public access to X Money in April. The digital wallet is meant to support peer-to-peer payments and transfers.
