Fintech giant Ripple has launched its Digital Asset Spot Prime Brokerage for institutions in the U.S. After acquiring Multi-asset broker Hidden Road for $1.25 billion, it combined the licenses and infrastructure to create Ripple Prime. This new offering facilitates over-the-counter (OTC) spot trading for major cryptocurrencies, such as Ripple’s XRP and the RLUSD stablecoin.
The Expansion of Ripple Prime
Ripple Prime is a digital assets prime brokerage that provides a full portfolio of services. U.S. institutional clients are now able to conduct OTC spot transactions on several different digital assets. The introduction also involves proprietary XRP and RLUSD from Ripple, which enhances liquidity options for traders.
Ripple seeks to bridge traditional financial products to the expanding digital asset market, where clients will obtain the flexibility to access foreign exchange (FX), derivatives, swaps, and fixed-income offerings.

Furthermore, this strategic move is expected to give institutions a streamlined platform to operate various portfolios. The Ripple platform also enables its clients to cross-margin OTC spot transactions with derivatives, CME futures, and options. With several financial products operating in a single room, Ripple helps financial institutions better manage risk and obtain more trading flexibility.

In addition, the expansion of Ripple’s institutional offerings is also associated with recent acquisitions. Recently, the company acquired GTreasury in a $1 billion deal involving corporate treasury management. Ripple is also targeting to raise $1 billion via a SPAC to build an XRP treasury.
