Cross-border payment firm Ripple has sealed a strategic partnership with Web3 Salon. Ripple announced the collaboration in a June 9 publication, noting that the move aims to facilitate blockchain growth in Asia.

For context, Web3 Salon is a government-backed initiative introduced by Asia Web3 Alliance Japan (AWAJ) with strong backing from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

Since its launch, the firm has consistently sought to connect startups, institutional investors, venture capitalists, and other entities in the crypto field as part of efforts to drive crypto and blockchain adoption in Asia. Ripple and Web3 Salon Blockchain Expansion Roles

According to the press release, Ripple will foster blockchain and crypto adoption goals by offering grant funding worth $200,000 per startup project. This exercise will extend into next year, with strict selection criteria.

Ripple explained:

“This initiative is part of the XRPL Japan and Korea Fund and Ripple’s broader 1 Billion XRP commitment to provide financial, technical, and business support for developers and startups building on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).”

Beyond building on the XRPL, the cross-border payment firm specified that beneficiaries must be based in Japan. In addition, Ripple stated that it would prioritize projects with use cases revolving around DeFi, digital payments, and tokenized real-world assets (RWAs).

Other factors that would influence selection included technological innovation and growth potential. Ripple emphasized that projects must align with its investment priorities to qualify for the grant. Notably, Ripple will directly oversee the grant process. The cross-border firm noted that this will help ensure that the funds are used for the right purposes. Meanwhile, beyond funding, selected startups will benefit from Ripple’s robust chain of global partners, customers, and other experts.

On its part, Web3 Salon will offer supportive programs, including workshops, mentorship, and other opportunities that would aid startups’ survival amid stiff competition. Overall, Web3 Salon will play a significant role in bridging the existing gap between the conventional financial system and blockchain innovation among Asian firms.

Achieving Digital Assets Growth Using Strategic Events

Ripple and Web3 Salon will co-host four events. According to the press release, the programs will explore several areas of navigating the highly competitive digital assets market space, making them ideal for startups and already established companies.

Reacting to the partnership, Hinza Asif, President of Asia Web3 Alliance Japan, noted that Japan remains one of the most exciting but challenging spaces for startups. However, with Ripple’s support, these companies can circumvent these challenges, positioning Japan at the forefront of crypto and tech innovation.

In related news, Ripple announced two strategic partnerships, which boosted its expansion into the United Arab Emirates. According to the publication, Ripple, Zand Bank, and Mamo have integrated to facilitate blockchain-based payments in Dubai.
