Revolut and Ledger Team Up for Easy Crypto Purchases for European Users

Highlights:

  • Revolut and Ledger’s partnership simplifies crypto purchases in select European countries via Ledger Live.
  • Verified Revolut users can buy crypto on Ledger Live without additional checks, enhancing convenience and security.
  • The collaboration aligns with both companies’ missions to expand access to digital assets and promote secure self-custody.

Revolut has announced a partnership with Ledger, allowing users in select European Economic Area (EEA) countries to seamlessly purchase cryptocurrencies through the Ledger Live app. This new integration provides a secure and straightforward way for Revolut users to access digital assets directly within Ledger Live, leveraging Revolut’s trusted payment platform alongside Ledger’s industry-leading hardware security.

This collaboration significantly improves the user experience by enabling Revolut customers who have already completed the Know Your Customer (KYC) verification to bypass additional identity checks. These users can purchase cryptocurrencies directly within the Ledger Live ecosystem using their Revolut accounts. For new users, the KYC process is streamlined and can be completed quickly, allowing them to make crypto purchases via Visa or Mastercard.

Enhanced Crypto Accessibility for European Users

The integration with Ledger Live marks an important step in Revolut’s ongoing expansion into the cryptocurrency market. Initially launched in the UK in 2015 as a money transfer service, Revolut has gradually evolved into a comprehensive fintech platform. By 2017, Revolut began offering cryptocurrency trading and management, solidifying its position as a leading fintech in digital assets.

With this new integration, Revolut and Ledger are jointly expanding the accessibility of cryptocurrencies to a broader audience across Europe. Thanks to Ledger’s commitment to self-custody solutions, Ledger Live users in most EEA nations can now enjoy the convenience of purchasing cryptocurrencies without compromising the security of their assets.

Revolutionizing the On-Ramp to Crypto

The recent collaboration with Ledger follows Revolut’s previous initiatives. In May, Revoult launched Revolut X and a partnership with MetaMask. Consequently, this cements its position as a major player in the fintech and crypto sectors.

Pascal Gauthier, Chairman and CEO at Ledger, emphasized the importance of this integration. He stated, “Cryptocurrency is inevitable, and allowing people to buy and sell digital assets securely and with self-custody is paramount as more people enter the market.” Gauthier highlighted that this partnership with Revolut showcases the continued growth of Ledger’s transaction business. Moreover, their shared commitment is to improving user security and accessibility throughout the crypto ecosystem.

Emil Urmanshin, Crypto General Manager at Revolut, echoed these sentiments. He noted that the collaboration represents a significant step in helping users onboard to Web3 securely and seamlessly. “We’re delighted to be working with Ledger, a leader in the self-custody space, as we further cement Revolut as the go-to financial app for crypto investors,” Urmanshin added.

This partnership sets a new standard in cryptocurrency management. In addition, it will combine the convenience of Revolut’s payment platform with the robust security features of Ledger’s hardware solutions. European users now have a powerful tool to confidently and efficiently engage with digital assets. Ledger recently introduced Ledger Flex, a secure touchscreen device, at The Bitcoin Conference in Nashville. This device joins the Ledger Stax in their new category of secure touchscreen technology.
