Metaplanet Aims to Boost Bitcoin Reserves to 10,000 BTC by 2025

Simon Gerovich, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Japanese investment firm Metaplanet, has revealed the company’s goals for the new year. The CEO made the revelation through a lengthy tweet on January 5. In his post, he listed several targets for Metaplanet in 2025.
Among the several goals, expanding the investment firm’s Bitcoin reserve to 10,000 tokens was the most prominent. In the tweet, Gerovich expressed his excitement about Metaplanet’s Bitcoin investment strategy, which saw it strengthen its position as a top Bitcoin treasury firm in Asia. Hence, to ensure it does not lose its position, the company must not relent in its BTC accumulations.
The CEO described how the firm plans to reach its Bitcoin investments target for 2025. In his statement, he mentioned using accretive capital market tools. Accretive simply means growing investments by gradual addition. On the other hand, capital market tools are financial mechanisms that help companies raise funds. They could include raising equity, leveraging loans, issuing bonds, and several others.

In its other targets for 2025, Gerovich said that the investment company is planning to gain more customers’ trust by improving transparency and shareholder engagement. He stated that the company will achieve the goal through new initiatives, which he failed to highlight.
Notedly, another target for the new year will involve leveraging Metaplanet’s strategic partnerships to push for Bitcoin adoption in the Japanese and global landscape. The last target in the CEO’s tweet was exploring opportunities for growth. According to Gerovich, the expansion prospects will help boost Metaplanet’s impacts in the Bitcoin ecosystem and Japan.
Rounding up his X post, the CEO appreciated the company’s faithful for their belief in Metaplanet’s vision. He added that the maximum support has contributed to pushing the investment firm’s desire for excellence. Gerovich reiterated that with the plans for the new year, enthusiasts should anticipate a great 2025.

Implications of Expanding Its Bitcoin Reserve
After the most recent buying spree that saw Metaplanet purchase 619.7 Bitcoin worth about $60 million, the company’s BTC holdings increased to about 1,762 tokens. Therefore, if the investment firm must reach its 10,000 Bitcoin target in 2025, it should be gearing up to buy an additional 8,238 tokens.

With several market experts and analysts predicting a highly profitable year for BTC, Metaplanet will likely spend over a billion dollars to achieve its goals for the year. For context, asset management firm VanEck predicted that Bitcoin could reach $180,000 in 2025. Another investment company, Bitwise, projected a $200K target for the flagship cryptocurrency.
Meanwhile, in an older tweet, Gerovich spoke about possible scenarios that could play out if the United States adopts a strategic Bitcoin reserve. According to him, such actions will result in other nations rallying to accumulate the token to prevent missing out on its limited supply. He added that the rush actions would trigger Bitcoin’s massive price increments, stemming from infinite demands that can elicit scarcity.
