Binance’s New Junior App Sparks Debate Over Kids Entering Crypto

On Wednesday, Binance launched Binance Junior, a mobile app for children aged 6 to 17. The app lets parents watch and control their children’s crypto activities. It connects to the parent’s main Binance account. Parents can make deposits, send transfers, and allow access to interest-earning crypto products, depending on local rules.

Binance said Binance Junior is a family-focused learning tool for finance. It works like a regular custodial account. Children can hold digital assets, but parents keep full legal ownership. Parents also control all permissions. Binance co-founder Yi He emphasized the initiative’s educational aspect.
He stated:
“Today, parents can take the first steps to prepare for their children’s financial future and equip them for the future financial landscape. Binance Junior is a family finance initiative that helps parents build crypto wealth and savings for their children and encourages them to teach and practice healthy financial habits for the next generation into adulthood.”
Binance Junior Features and Community Response
The app works as a custodial sub-account. This means the parent’s verified identity supports the account. Adults can deposit crypto from their main account, transfer assets on-chain, and decide if their children can use the Junior Flexible Simple Earn feature.
Teens aged 13 and older can use Binance Pay within the Junior app. They can send and receive crypto to other Junior accounts or to their parents. Daily limits are strictly controlled by the parent. Binance said that some features might be limited depending on the user’s location. This is because local laws and regulations are different in each country.
The launch received mixed reactions from the crypto community. Some users are worried and said Binance is “targeting” children. They questioned whether previous youth-focused marketing efforts were enough. One X user called the move “crazy and irresponsible.” Another joked that children could become “exit liquidity.”
Not all feedback was negative. Some community members supported the initiative. They said teaching younger generations about crypto is “huge for real adoption.” Parents controlling the account was seen as a helpful tool. It allows children to safely learn about digital assets. The news coincides with Yi He’s promotion to co-CEO of the company earlier today.

Binance Launches ABCs of Crypto to Support Young Learners
In line with the Binance Junior launch, the company also released a children’s book titled ABCs of Crypto. The book introduces concepts such as blockchain, security, and types of digital assets through simple explanations and illustrations.
The material is designed to work with the Binance Junior platform. It helps families learn basic crypto knowledge together. The platform provides a simple and clear interface for kids and includes parental controls. This allows families to explore digital finance while keeping risks low.
